President Perez continuing talks for more flights to and from San Antonio

Richard Perez, Chamber President and CEO, visited the headquarters of Southwest Airlines last week in an effort to continue dialogue with the low cost carrier to expand the number of non-stop flights to and from key cities in the nation. The Chamber has targeted Seattle and Oakland flights because of the ties of many companies, including AT&T and Boeing to these cities.

“The discussion was very positive and Southwest will keep San Antonio high on its list when the airline considers adding any flights,” Perez said.

The economy may slow some of the expansion of flights next year, but the potential was there, Perez noted.

The visits are all a part of the strategic plan put forth by the Blue Ribbon Task Force to secure more nonstop air service, serving San Antonio, led by Keith Connolly of AT&T. Perez will also visit Jet Blue this week to discuss the new airline coming to San Antonio and offering flights from Boston and JFK.
