Formed in 1993 in San Antonio, Texas to address the depleted availability of quality, affordable housing for low to lower-income individuals and families, including seniors and persons with special needs, HCS founders also shared a common interest to restore through its communities the opportunity for success in many areas of life.A 501c3 nonprofit organization, HCS began its efforts by first acquiring multifamily properties that were designated for removal from the affordable housing market. Complementing its diverse housing options with a variety of educational, lifestyle and social services, HCS has seen numerous residents as well as members of the surrounding neighborhoods achieve both personal and professional goals through the stability afforded by this comprehensive approach. From the civic and community-minded handful of individuals who comprised the organization’s initial efforts, HCS has grown to number over 35 properties in multiple locales across the state of Texas.

We are a center for treatment of chemical dependency, both to alcohol and other drugs. We provide intensive treatment in a residential setting for adult men only. We also provide supportive residential treatment for adult men, in which clients must seek out and find a job. The duration of stay is approximately 90 days. Clients in the initial intensive phase stay in the facility and may leave only for medical appointments and the like, and are transported by staff. Clients in supportive treatment leave the facility in the day and a special team of counselors provides treatment services in the evening. We also provide outpatient treatment for adult men and women, together with parenting classes and family groups. We have been in business in San Antonio since 1963, and were previously known as The ARC. We have excellent rapport with our clients and outstanding outcomes measures. We serve medically indigent clients through state and federal grants, and also provide fee for service treatment for very reasonable rates.

WISH for OUR HEROES is a national 501(c)(3), dedicated to assisting the men and women of the United States active-duty military. WISH for OUR HEROES launched in November of 2009, in honor of 1SG Thomas G. Wells, who was a career Marine. The founders of WISH for OUR HEROES served on active-duty and while deployed, they recognized that a serious need existed within our military ranks. WISH for OUR HEROES started with the goal of providing one wish for every deserving military member. There are no requirements – military members simply have to be on active-duty at the time the wish is submitted. Our priority is to always grant basic needs or emergencies first - anything from putting food on the table to assisting with car repairs, home repairs, baby supplies, clothing, etc. When basic needs are met, we also enjoy providing fun things like sending the troops to athletic events, sending them on vacation to get re-acquainted after deployments, meeting celebrities and more.
