2012 Chairman of the Board, Jim Greenwood

Jim Greenwood is Vice President of Governmental Affairs for Valero Energy Corporation.  Jim is responsible for formulating, prioritizing and implementing governmental and regulatory activities for the corporation.  He also monitors and participates in trade group activities to represent the company's position on industry issues. 

Jim has been Valero's representative within many trade groups and industry coalitions.  Locally, Jim is actively involved in several community and business organizations.  Jim is the Vice-Chairman of the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce and serves on the Chamber's Executive Committee.  Some of his other volunteer roles within the Chamber include:  Chairman of the Legislative Committee, Advisor for the Leadership San Antonio program and Director for the Chamber's political action committee.  He co-chairs the San Antonio United Way's Coordinating Council and serves on the Board for Family Services of San Antonio.  Jim has also served on the Board of Directors of the San Antonio Division of the American Heart Association, the Texas Department of Transportation's Keep Texas Beautiful Program and was a mentor at San Antonio's Douglas Elementary School.

Prior to joining Valero in 1992, Jim served as Chief of Staff for U.S. Congressman Greg Laughlin (1988-1992) and Legislative Assistant for U.S. Congressman Mike Andrews (1983-1988).  While in Washington, D.C., Jim served as the Executive Director of the U.S. Congressional Sunbelt Caucus, President of the Texas State Society of Washington, D.C., Vice-Chairman of the Black Tie and Boots Inaugural Ball and as a delegate to the National Conference of State Societies.

Jim graduated from the University of Texas in 1983 with a degree in political science.  Other interests include competing in regional triathlons and a little league baseball/soccer coach.
