TEDx San Antonio

TEDx is an independently-organized program molded after TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design), an annual event where some of the world's leading thinkers and doers discuss these three broad subject areas that are, collectively, shaping our future. TEDx 2011 is a one-day event packed with fascinating talks that will spark ideas and discussion across different disciplines and mindsets. Speakers include local business executives, academicians, creatives, philanthropists, entrepreneurs, community volunteers and international voices.

GEOINT (Geospatial Intelligence) Symposium
Oct. 16- 19 | Times Vary | Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center>

This is the nation's largest intelligence event of the year, attracting more than 4,000 attendees last year. It will feature panel discussions; lunchtime workshops and breakout sessions on human geography and socio-cultural dynamics, open source GEOINT, weapons of mass destruction, crowd-sourced intelligence, international commercial satellite imagery, cloud computing, the Defense Intelligence Information Enterprise (DI2E), the implementation of NGA's Vision, homeland security applications, and more.

Seminar: Protecting Yourself Online

Participants will understand the risks associated with online computer use with real world examples and recommendations for testing/fixing computer security issues. Instead of just why we need to protect ourselves, this presentation shows you how.

Seminar: Child Safe

Provided by the Alamo Chapter Information Systems Security Association (ISSA)

The Child Safe Initiative is a program designed to educate and provide a place that parents can come to learn about protecting themselves and their families from existing and potential online threats.

Seminar: Protecting Information Systems in Small- and Medium-Sized Businesses

Provided by Our Lady of the Lake University's Center for Information Assurance Management and Leadership and Delta Risk

Every Friday in October | 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. | OLLU Main Building, Room 311 [MAP]

Participants will learn to identify the value of private business data, threats to their information systems, the roles of external/internal policies in protecting those information systems, and practical/affordable steps to protect against losses.
