For 51 years, the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce has convened the nation’s largest concentration of events aimed at celebrating the service of our country’s finest soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines, and guardians each November. Being Military City U.S.A. is not just a motto but a way of life and your Chamber is honored to carry this tradition year after year with the assistance of our generous sponsors through Celebrate America’s Military. Now more than ever, sharing a kind word of thanks and providing a personal connection to our great city is vital to ensuring our military partners feel valued and supported.

The Chamber directly hosts four events in addition to connecting the community to a variety of other events where military service members and families are recognized while also showing appreciation to the plethora of organizations who support them. These community-wide events are a special way to create a sense of belonging for our military partners while also providing an avenue for giving to our business members.

This year’s Celebrate America’s Military events include:

  • Celebrate America’s Military Opening Ceremony at Alamo Plaza on November 1st from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. This event will be free and open to the public with special remarks and appearances by San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg, former Congressman Will Hurd, newly assigned Commanding General of United States Army North – LTG John R. Evans, the 323d Army Band, and Brackenridge High School’s award-winning JROTC Color Guard. Click here to learn more here.
  • The Prayer Breakfast to Honor Military Chaplains at the Whitley Theological Center on November 2nd from 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. Join us as we celebrate the unique role that military chaplains fulfill in today’s military and hear from former Marine Tony Dias on his life built on service to country and the value of faith along the journey. Register here.
  • The Senior Non-Commissioned Officer (SNCO) Reception at SeaWorld San Antonio on November 4th from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. We will hear from United States Army North’s Command Sergeant Major, CSM Phil K. Barretto, and network with the backbone of our nation’s military, the SNCO, while enjoying the unique location that is SeaWorld San Antonio. Register here.
  • The Spirit of America Dinner at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts on November 9th from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. This is perhaps the most patriotic event of the year and is one you DON’T want to miss. We’ll hear inspiring remarks from the 3rd Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Joint Chiefs of Staff, United States Army Retired John Troxell, and show recognition to our Active, Guard, Reserve, and Veteran members from across our great Alamo Region. Register here.

The impact that our military missions have on our region cannot be underestimated. From the vital partnerships that drive innovation and resiliency, advancements and direct provision of healthcare that is second to none, to military education and training across the branches of service, the roots of patriotism run deep in San Antonio! Don’t miss out on your opportunity to engage our military neighbors and meet other like-minded military supporters too!
