During a 10 day, 8 night journey, you’ll experience the timeless treasures of the Sahara, the last monumental statements of the Pharaohs, and a nation rich in culture, art, and cuisine. Travel from San Antonio to Cairo International Airport
At Cairo International Airport, you will be welcomed and escorted to your hotel. You can also learn about the history of this ancient land and the story of the Sphinx though an optional Sound & Light Show.
Start your day with the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, which includes a collection of Pharaonic artifacts and treasures of King Tutankhamen’s tomb. You will also explore the Citadel of Saladin and visit Khan El-Khalili, the world’s largest 13th century covered oriental bazaar.
Fly out to Aswan and visit the Aswan High Dam and the Granite Quarries with the Unfinished Obelisk. Then visit an Egyptian perfume factory to learn how these natural scents are made. Afterward, you will be transferred to your first-class ship for a 4-night/5-day cruise.
Sail on board a “Felucca”, a typical Nile sailboat, and view Kitchener’s Island Botanical Garden and the Agha Khan Mausoleum. Then, sail to the magnificent temple Kom Ombo. That evening you will attend a Galabeya Party after dinner.
Visit the Temple of Horus, the best-preserved ancient temple. You will then sail to Esna. Late afternoon, you will arrive at Luxor and visit the temple. Luxor temple is known as the world’s best open-air museum.
Visit the West Bank, including the Valley of the Kings and an Alabaster workshop to see how vases and statues are made in the traditional ancient styles. You will also see the temple of Karnak and enjoy a Nubian Folkloric Show.
Transfer to Luxor airport for your flight to Cairo. Upon arrival in Cairo, transfer to the hotel and check-in. Depending on your flight schedule, you will either have more free time in Luxor or more free time in Cairo, or a mix of both!
Visit the Great Pyramid of Giza, the defining symbol of Egypt, and the Papyrus Institute to learn about papyrus making as an important part of Egypt’s history. Enjoy lunch and continue your visit to Sakkara where you will see the famous Step Pyramid.
