Explore the different legal requirements and purchasing protocols of Bexar County.

As the second largest city in Texas, it is no shock that San Antonio and Bexar County are growing. The San Antonio Chamber of Commerce has teamed up with Renee Watson, director from the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Department for Bexar County for “Doing Business in Bexar.” This info session, geared towards small and medium business owners, provides the chance to learn about the different legal requirements and purchasing protocols to follow when conducting business with the County. Attendees will also broaden the reach of their businesses and gain knowledgeable information on how to bid for contracts with the County.

About our speaker: Renee is responsible for coordinating, facilitating, implementing and monitoring the County’s Small, Minority & Women-Owned Business Enterprise (SMWBE) Program, Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Liaison and Title VI Coordinator. She acts as a liaison between offices and departments to ensure that SMWBEs have access to County procurement, contracting and professional services opportunities. She reviews current practices to assess and recommend improvements to increase participation. Renee works in cooperation with the Purchasing Agent, offices and departments to explore these concepts and analyze the advantages and disadvantages of modifying current practices. In addition, she works directly with community organizations, other public entities, and vendors to promote participation and access in local, state and federal and private sector procurement opportunities. She is a member of the County Manager’s Executive Leadership Team. Renee participated in Leadership San Antonio and received the Freedom Award, at the 2015 San Antonio Chamber of Commerce Tribute to Women Business Leader’s, presented by Ford Motor Company Fund.
