San Antonio has no shortage of talented, dedicated individuals who have left their mark on our city through achievement, perseverance, and inspiring their neighbors. As the most prestigious award distributed by your Chamber, The Pathfinder Award recognizes the greatest of the greats, the San Antonians who personify this level of character in their professional, personal, and community lives.
With the circumstances of our lives singularly dominated by the COVID-19 pandemic for much of 2020 and 2021, the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce found it fitting to honor a man who encapsulates the herculean efforts of our community to stay healthy, protect one another, and practice safe and responsible health measures. George B. Hernández, Jr., President & CEO of University Health System, has overseen some of the most ambitious and far-reaching efforts in San Antonio to curb the spread of COVID-19, from the earliest days in March 2020 to the ongoing vaccine rollout of 2021. George has served as the chief executive of the third-largest public health system in Texas since 2005, responsible for an organization of nearly 9,000 employees and an annual operating budget of $2.3 billion.
Join us for our Pathfinder Award luncheon on Wednesday, September 1 at the Security Service Federal Credit Union Event Center, where we will honor George B. Hernández, Jr. as the latest recipient of our highest award.
