Gun reform, election security, and impeachment are among the dominant issues Congress is facing just before they head out for a two-week recess. But, what does that mean for the 2020 appropriations, national security and the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) – all major priorities for San Antonio?

The Senate passed a short-term funding bill yesterday to avoid a government shutdown, but what can we expect next? Get an outside perspective from Senators Cory Gardner (CO) and Thom Tillis (NC) as they tackle tough questions about military funding, healthcare, homeland security, and the 2020 election.

As a member of the Foreign Relations Committee, senior Senator Gardner will talk about his efforts to urge for swift ratification of the USMCA. He will also cover his work on the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources to garner bipartisan support for legislation to protect our country’s energy grid from cyberattacks.

Senator Tillis, who serves on four key committees, including Armed Services; Veterans’ Affairs; Banking, Housing & Urban Affairs; and Committee on Judiciary, will tell us about his success in getting bills passed to improve veterans’ quality of healthcare, expand their education and job opportunities, and protect them and their families from predatory lending. He will also tackle border security, immigration reform, and the transfer of military construction dollars.

You do not want to miss this thought-provoking discussion moderated by Jack Riccardi, talk show host of the popular 550 KTSA Jack Riccardi Show. The event is also a great opportunity to network with key San Antonio business and community leaders.

This event is hosted in partnership with the North San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, South San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, and the Texas Association of Business.
