With the annual SA to DC only three weeks away, the Chamber is excited to announce that the group of business and civic leaders will hear from both Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, and Senator Orrin Hatch at the Chairman’s Dinner on February 2.
Building upon the Congressional engagement that has occurred in San Antonio through IBC Bank’s SA Conversations events, attendees of the SA to DC trip will get to hear an SA to DC Conversations the evening of February 2nd, moderated by Texas Tribune Editor-in-Chief Evan Smith. Smith will have a sit-down dialogue with seven-term Senator from the state of Utah, Orrin Hatch. As the chamber’s longest serving Republican, Senator Hatch will surely treat the audience to stories from his nearly four decades in the Senate and how he’s managed to work across party lines to pass meaningful legislation.
Preceding the SA to DC Conversations dinner, House Speaker Paul Ryan will attend the Chairman’s Dinner Reception and address the delegation from San Antonio on his last three months as Speaker, and his plans and goals for the House in 2016. Stay tuned for more announcements as staff continues to build a strong agenda that will provide access to the highest level of leadership in D.C.
Speaking about the importance of the annual San Antonio advocacy trip, Eddie Aldrete, Chairman of SA to DC 2016 often states “those who fail to get involved in the governmental process are usually governed by those who do.” While the formal group registration deadline has passed, there are still opportunities to sign up. Please contact Ruben Gonzalez (210.229.2199) or Jennifer Harms (210.229.2105) for more information and book the trip on your calendar today.
