Last week your Chamber hosted the newly appointed Regional Director for the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO), Hope Shimabuku.  Mrs. Shimabuku’s visit coincided with her keynote address at the State Bar of Texas Intellectual Property Seminar last week.

During her visit, Mrs. Shimabuku visited with key partners in the San Antonio community focusing on innovation and small business assistance including our local congressional staff members, Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff, Geekdom, TechBloc, and Café Commerce. One of the goals of this visit was to promote the many resources and programs offered by the USPTO Regional Office in Dallas which include several live summits. These summits are built to inform potential patent and trademark registrars of what can be registered and how to navigate the application process.

Discussions are currently underway to host a USPTO summit in San Antonio to assist local inventors and innovators with what programs and assistance they can receive from the USPTO.
