The Chamber is looking for employers to help impact the learning of more than 18,000 students this year. SA Works is partnering with Alamo STEM Workforce Coalition (ASWC), an organization that teaches Texas educators how math and science is applied in the workplace. By connecting teachers with industry experts, ASWC improves the overall quality of education in Texas.

Through an externship experience, the ASWC will work with 150 educators who will create a project-based learning lesson plan to incorporate the real world workforce problems based on their externship. In turn, those lessons will be taught to approximately 120 students per classroom, which translates to approximately 18,000 students who will learn the relevant lessons developed by their teachers based on how employers and industry actually apply math and science.

You can participate by providing teachers a one day field visit to your business for four hours to display how math and science is used in your company.

To connect with SA Works about being a host site for the externship experience, please contact Michelle Hendrick: mhendrick@sachamber.org, 210-229-2190, or SanAntonioWorks.org. For more information about the externship program, visit http://tinyurl.com/ASWCExternships.
