The Chamber’s Good to Great to Global (G3) taskforce rolled up their sleeves this week to begin work on developing recommendations to improve San Antonio’s positioning as an international hub for business and quality of life. During the session, members used Chicago’s Global City Rankings Matrix as a tool to assess the following dimensions: Business Activity, Human Capital, Information Exchange, Cultural Experience, Political Engagement, and Required Infrastructure.
As part of the initiative, the Taskforce will develop a specific and prioritized list of projects to consider for community investment, including identifying funding opportunities. The priority for recommendations may be made according to immediate need or by expected timeframe (i.e. short, mid, and long term). The corresponding timeframe for the City of San Antonio’s proposed bond referendum in 2017 serves as an opportunity to fund recommended projects resulting from this effort.
The goal of this effort is to produce a report with recommendations and a vision for how San Antonio can become a recognized global leader in: Cyber Security, Biomedical & Healthcare, and Cultural Preservation & Celebration.
The Chamber thanks all members who have committed time and effort to the initiative. While their commitment is short term, their involvement will have a long-term, positive impact on our city.
The next working meeting is scheduled for August 26.
