Tricentennial Commission establishes community service initiative

The Tricentennial Commission has established Serve 300 SA, a new dedicated community service initiative that aims to inspire local non-profit organizations and volunteers of all ages to serve our community. With San Antonio celebrating its tricentennial anniversary in 2018, the Chamber supports the commission’s efforts to mobilize the passion of community leaders in San Antonio to advance and improve our city and county.

“With the collaboration of volunteers, donors and civic-minded residents, the impact of Serve 300 SA will be tremendous and observed throughout 2018,” Edward Benavides said, CEO of the Tricentennial.

The Tricentennial Commission will partner with non-profit organizations on capacity-building projects through an online application, which are being accepted until April 30. Serve 300 SA will then select community projects based on how they fit with the Tricentennial Guiding Principles.  These projects can be expansions of existing community projects or new volunteer events but they must take place in 2018. When the projects are finalized, the Tricentennial Commission will assign volunteers to projects based on need.

You can submit community service project ideas online at, under the “Get Involved” tab.
