The Chamber’s Military Affairs Council recently hosted a reception for Col TK Smith, Commander of the 433rd Air Wing, and civic and military leaders from the 403rd Wing, including their Commander, Col Michael Manion, from Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. The 433rd Air Wing brought more than 40 guests to San Antonio via a C-130 Super Hercules to share ideas, perspectives, and best practices on connecting our vital Reserve Component Airmen with our local civic and business members surrounding the installations.
Employing more than 1,500 reservists, the 403rd Wing is an Air Force Reserve unit on Keesler AFB and serves as the only Department of Defense wing tasked to organize, equip, train, and perform all hurricane weather reconnaissance in support of the Department of Commerce.
While on their whirlwind tour of San Antonio, the guests toured the C-5M Super Galaxy and the F-16 Fighting Falcon, the C-5M Schoolhouse (the 733rd Training Squadron), and they attended a Basic Military Graduation and toured the Center for the Intrepid at Fort Sam Houston. We were excited to provide a glimpse into Military City USA’s distinct hospitality and immense support for our own valued military partners within Joint Base San Antonio.
