The San Antonio Chamber of Commerce’s Military Affairs Council was proud to host this year’s Executive Leadership Development Program (ELDP) at a reception to celebrate its 31st year of training Department of Defense (DoD) future enterprise leaders. The reception, sponsored by our partners at USAA, was attended by 68 high-potential DoD and Active Duty Personnel who joined Chamber Staff and Military Affairs Council members for networking and light refreshments as an important part to their two-week San Antonio tour of duty. The ELDP is a Secretary of Defense initiative designed to meet one of the Department’s top transformational priorities: leader development. Participants are selected through a nomination process by their Units and Organizations. Throughout a 10-month period, participants travel to various locations within the United States and also to a few international locations. They receive training at the tactical and operational levels of leadership and receive a strategic awareness of DoD priorities and a joint perspective from sister services. At the reception, these future leaders learned that it is important to reach “outside the gates” to include City, Community, and Business partners in endeavors and were able to make some invaluable networking connections to assist them in future public and private projects related to their areas of expertise.
The Chamber continues to value our Military and Community connections and looks forward each year to supporting this successful and worthy DoD program.
