As we continue to see the devastation along the Texas Coast and in Houston in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, we are keeping those affected in our thoughts and prayers. San Antonio is a generous and giving city, and we are proud to serve as a federally and state-designated evacuation center for Harvey evacuees.
As a business community, we have historically rallied to help those in our community, city, state, and country during their moments of need, and now is the time to band together to show our support to victims of Hurricane Harvey. The San Antonio Food Bank is already serving hot meals and preparing food boxes for evacuees who are staying in shelters or hotels and preparing to assist other Food Banks in South Texas. We are asking members of the business community to consider helping our Food Bank support these evacuees and a possible additional 10,000 evacuees who may be making their way to our city. Currently, the Food Bank is asking for:
- Monetary donations
- Volunteers – Volunteers are needed as they respond to local and statewide needs
- Material donations – Nonperishable food, bottles of water, baby food, diapers, flashlights and batteries, new or packaged clothing, hygiene items, and cleaning supplies
