Don’t miss our Appreciation Luncheon Honoring Texas Speaker of the House Joe Straus

We are less than one week away from our much-anticipated appreciation luncheon honoring Texas Speaker of the House Joe Straus. Due to the record-breaking number of key business and community leaders registered for the event, we have had to move the event to a larger venue. The event will now be held at Venue Villita located at 401 La Villita, San Antonio, Texas 78205. More than 400 business and community leaders have registered for the event, and we anticipate that number to grow over the coming days.

Known for his ability to forge alliances and find common ground, Speaker Straus will provide an insider perspective on the outcomes of the 85th Legislative Session and Special Session, as well as the implications these outcomes will have on the local and state economy.

During the Texas 85th legislative session, Speaker Straus supported efforts to fund the Alamo Master Plan, preserve funding for the Defense Economic Adjustment Assistance Grant (DEAAG) and the Texas Enterprise Fund (TEF), reform school finance, and oppose the state’s proposed bathroom bill.

In an effort to assist our neighbors in South Texas and Houston who were impacted by Hurricane Harvey, the Chamber will also be collecting donations at this event for the San Antonio Food Bank. Please consider bringing a non-perishable item and drop it off at the Chamber van, which will be set up outside the Venue Villita. The Food Bank currently needs:

  • Nonperishable food
  • Water
  • Hygiene products
  • Diapers
  • Baby formula
  • Baby food
  • Pet food
  • New or packaged clothing
  • Bedding
