San Antonio participates in Careers in Texas Industries Week

The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) and Texas Workforce Solutions, in conjunction with Tri-Agency Initiative partners, Governor’s Office of Economic Development & Tourism and industry associations, are taking this week to raise awareness about careers in our state’s in-demand industries through the statewide “Careers in Texas Industries Week” events. These career exploration events, which are taking place all over the state, will encourage students to explore careers in growing Texas Industry Clusters and help students, parents, and educators understand in-demand industries through networking with industry professionals and internship opportunities.

Your San Antonio Chamber has worked with the TWC and the other agencies (Texas Education Agency and Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board) that are a part of the Tri-Agency Workforce Initiative established by Governor Greg Abbott to ensure there are strong links between education and industry.  The ultimate goal of the initiative is to ensure that Texas continues to grow in economic prosperity by strengthening our home-grown talent.

Locally, our very own Workforce Solutions Alamo and Education Service Center 20 (Region 20) have partnered to put on the 2017 Youth CareerCON Expo.  This one-day event will take place on Friday, September 29th from 9 a.m. – p.m. at the Region 20 offices (1314 Hines Ave.).  If you are an employer who is still interested in participating or have students who want to attend you can visit this LINK for more information.
