Get ready for Celebrate America’s Military and honor our military community

Since 1970, your San Antonio Chamber of Commerce has been honored to host and promote many fun and exciting events designed to celebrate our nation’s great military service men and women in San Antonio. “Celebrate America’s Military,” also called CAM, began as week-long celebration and has now blossomed to nearly three weeks. Each event is held in recognition of the dedication of the men and women who serve as Active Duty, Guard, and Reserve from all branches. Although there are more than 40 events planned, the Chamber hosts four events – The Opening Ceremony, SNCO Reception, B4B Golf Tournament, and the Spirit of America Dinner.

This year, the official opening is presented by The Boeing Company and hosted at Morgan’s Wonderland on Wednesday, November 1st. This unique event celebrates the spirit and resiliency of those wounded in military service and of civilians who also face daunting physical challenges – but who all demonstrate the undying spirit to overcome….and succeed. There will be a fun and exciting exhibition wheelchair basketball game involving disabled veterans from ParaSports and participants in the Morgan’s Wonderland STRAPS (South Texas Regional Adaptive and Paralympic Sports) program. Playing alongside these athletes will be representatives of the local business community and our valued CAM partnering organizations. This event is open to Military, CAM Sponsors, and Special Guests by invitation.

In honor of the members of San Antonio’s senior enlisted service, on Thursday, November 3, we will host our Senior Non-Commissioned Officer Reception to recognize the critical roles that SNCO’s play in the readiness, morale and success of our nation’s military.  Join us at Texas’ oldest VFW Post on the San Antonio River to salute and thank our senior enlisted service members.  Spouses are encouraged to attend this reception. All Active Duty Senior Enlisted Personnel in Uniform are invited to attend and this event is by invitation only to the business community.

This marks the fifth year your Chamber and TPC San Antonio are partnering for the CAM Golf Classic.  Through this partnership, CAM has been able to donate nearly 100% of the funds raised through the tournament to the PGA Tour’s Birdies for the Brave charity, which supports worthwhile military-related charities across the nation. The golf tournament will be held on Monday, November 6, and it is invitation only. Registration is required.

Finally, the signature event of CAM is our Spirit of America Dinner that pays tribute to the men and women of our Nation’s military. Join us on Thursday, November 9 for a moving recognition of active duty military personnel and veterans and an inspiring address. Our keynote speaker, Taya Kyle, is the wife of the late U.S. Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle and the author of the New York Times bestselling memoir, “American Wife.” Taya serves as the Executive Director of the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation. The Foundation continues Chris Kyle’s legacy and sets itself apart by serving first responder and military marriages. Taya is a frequent speaker for various organizations and is a Fox News Contributor. She is a proud mother and resides in Texas with her family. This will surely be an event you don’t want to miss!

Please visit our website: www.celebrateamericasmilitary.com for updated times and locations of many other events. There are ample opportunities available to honor those who serve by becoming a sponsor of CAM. The success of CAM is a direct result of our great sponsors! You won’t just be giving back to those who have defended our freedoms, you will be growing your business. Thousands of eyes will be on the events that take place during our Celebrate America’s Military tribute, and all attendees will take notice of your sponsorship and respect for our military members. The service men and women you will be honoring stand by each other with unwavering loyalty, and showing your support for them could build a lifelong relationship with one of the nation’s biggest active and retired military populations.
