The third meeting of the Mayor’s Housing Task force was held on Monday, October 30 at the San Antonio Central Library. The first two meetings covered our city’s history of homeownership, moving into what defines affordability. The third meeting, taking place this week, focused on federal housing policies and how they relate to San Antonio. Noel Poyo, Executive Director at National Association for Latino Community Asset Builders (NALCAB), was the guest presenter. Mr. Poyo described how using San Antonio’s unique style and compassionate community is its strength, reminding the task force and audience that a generic best practice is not always the best fit.
The Task Force is still developing working groups, which we expect to be announced soon. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 14 at 5:30 PM (location TBD). The first community workshop is scheduled for Saturday, December 9 (time and location TBD).
