The Military Affairs Council was honored to host Major General Garrett Harencak and his team from the United States Air Force Recruiting Service, along with members of the Air Force Recruiting Alumni Association, for a reception in honor of the United States top Air Force recruiters from throughout the United States. Each year, Air Force Recruiting Service selects its most outstanding Airmen to be recognized as Operation Blue Suit recipients. Winners are nominated and selected from nearly 2,400 recruiting personnel, recognizing them for their outstanding contributions to the Air Force recruiting mission.
The Operation Blue Suit tradition started in 1979 recognizing individuals who surpassed all recruiting goals, displayed the highest leadership qualities, and had the most impact on the recruiting mission. They epitomize being a “Great Airman First.”
In addition to the special reception at the Chamber, the 12 winners and their spouses were able to enjoy a Blue Suit Awards luncheon, a Basic Military Training tour and graduation ceremony, a river barge tour, and a private visit to the Alamo. Recruiters work countless hours in one of the Air Force’s toughest careers encouraging schools and communities to support their mission and to promote the Air Force way of life in securing the safety of our Nation. Their accomplishments in recruiting have a direct impact on ensuring we have a diverse, high-quality volunteer force, which is critical to achieving the overall Air Force mission.
