The SAWS Customer Service Center was the setting of our May Board of Directors meeting this morning. SAWS CEO Robert Puente provided a welcome to members of the Board and gave an update on a variety of projects, the importance of conservation, and a positive progress report on the Chamber supported on the Vista Ridge Pipeline.
Special Guest Speaker Ambassador Reyna Torres Mendivil, consul General of Mexico in San Antonio, gave the Board a content laden presentation about her role in our community, the services provided by the Mexican Consulate Office, and the importance of the historic relationship between Texas, San Antonio, and Mexico.
During the full-house gathering, Chamber President and CEO Richard Perez discussed the Republican National Convention and a recent letter the Chamber penned to Commerce Secretary Ross regarding the citizenship questions on the 2020 Census. In addition, the Chamber’s VP of Economic Development Belinda Garza Hartwig provided a high-level update on the need to bolster our community’s direct flight air service incentives. Finally, the board approved a resolution on Eminent Domain and a position statement opposing the ill-conceived Fire Union Petition Campaign.
