Join 150 other San Antonio leaders in Washington, DC for our annual advocacy trip February 4-7, 2019. This 41st trip is co-chaired by Kathy Garcia of CPS Energy, and Juan Antonio Flores of Port San Antonio.
Will your participation make a difference? YES! Last year, 175 San Antonians travelled to our nation’s capital to advocate on behalf of our community’s needs. Because of our member participation during our 2018 SA to DC advocacy efforts, we successfully secured the following:
- $10.0 million to replace the aging air control tower at Kelly Field, which supports the growing aerospace industry and military missions;
- $1.4 billion in Impact Aid which makes up a significant part of the total budgets for Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) grade school education–Ft. Sam Houston ISD, Lackland ISD, and Randolph Field ISD;
- $1.5 million for Mitchell Lake improvements; and
- $15.0 million for reimbursements to Bexar County for Mission Reach Ecosystem Restoration and Recreation Project.
What will we be advocating for in 2019? Find out what issues are rising to the top and engage with others at our planning meetings on November 14, December 10, and January 9, all at 3:30 PM at the San Antonio Water System (SAWS) Customer Service Building in Room CR-145 (2800 US Hwy 281N, 78212).
