One of San Antonio’s newest sister cities is Darmstadt, Germany. As Germany’s first-ever Digital City, Darmstadt and Cyber City USA have much in common and many opportunities for collaboration.
Hosted by Port San Antonio, your Chamber and CyberSecurity San Antonio welcomed Lord Mayor Jochen Partsch and the Darmstadt delegation to discuss innovation, cybersecurity, and education. Joined by the 2019 Cyber Industry Council Chair Jarrett Cravey from Accenture, and Melissa Unsell-Smith from Rectify, the San Antonio cyber community was well represented.
The Chamber’s Acting VP for Cybersecurity Amanda Keammerer presented information about CyberSecurity San Antonio, the community’s five core focus areas, and examples of successful outcomes from the program’s partnerships. Marcel Johnson and Will Garrett from Port San Antonio shared the vision for the Port’s new innovation center, how the Port revamped the old Kelly AFB into a bustling cyber and tech hub, and how this prime location serves as an important cluster to attract more talent, jobs, and companies to San Antonio. Rene Dominguez, Thomas Davis, and Jean-Luc Mette attended on behalf of the City of San Antonio and shared opportunities for economic development with Darmstadt in the near future.
