Tuesday evening started off a bit balmy, but spirits soared high as the attendees of the Chamber’s June mixer arrived at the Nelson Wolf Municipal Stadium for an evening with the San Antonio Missions.
Hosted just off left field, guests were in an ideal location to cheer on the Missions in their big win against the Reno Aces. The event staff, led by Director of Sales Daniel Vazquez, were perfect hosts, providing ample beverages and food to make for a perfect evening. Entertainment was provided by the iconic “Ballapeño,” the Missions’ mascot.
While Chamber members were there to network, they were also able to support The Miracle League. Due to the strong attendance, the attendees contributed in excess of $700 to support the work of the charity in San Antonio.
The Miracle League of San Antonio is a 501 (c) 3 charitable organization that provides children with mental and/or physical challenges an opportunity to play baseball as a team member in an organized league. There is something about playing the game of baseball that lights up youngsters’ eyes, but for children facing mental and physical challenges, that opportunity can often be a difficult first step. The Miracle League gives these children the opportunity to get out in the sunshine and enjoy playing the game of baseball in its purest form.
The Chamber delights in bringing members together for networking mixers, but there’s something so much sweeter about raising money for a good cause on top of that. We humbly thank everyone who stepped up to the plate.
