Woman to Woman, Leader to Leader hosts successful second event

The San Antonio Chamber of Commerce’s Woman to Woman, Leader to Leader (WWLL) Committee recently held its second event of the year at the Doris Griffin Senior Activity Center. More than 70 ladies attended this networking event, hosted by the Senior Activity Center team and Jimmie Keenan, Sr. Vice President of Enterprise Clinic Operations at WellMed Medical Management, Inc. and 2019 WWLL Committee Co-Chair.

Through a public/private partnership between the WellMed Charitable Foundation and the City of San Antonio, the Center provides older persons, many of whom are retired military, the opportunity to remain active and healthy in our community. The center offers physical activity, nutrition, social services, and a variety of fun and educational opportunities at no cost. Guests were able to tour the facility and see the unique space that provides such a great service to our community.

The renewed mission of the WWLL Committee is “…to connect top Military and C-Suite Women Leaders to authentically deepen relationships through engagement, while creating opportunities to help emerging leaders of the future.” This event allowed the guests to “kick off their heels” and come casual and enjoy each other’s company, continuing friendships and creating new professional networks, as well. The Committee also introduced the “Women You Need to Know” campaign, where each attendee is offered an opportunity to invite a guest to the September event. These additional guests will be emerging leaders in a variety of fields, looking for mentorship and growth, both personally and professionally.

The event was made even more special with the official signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Joint Base San Antonio and CPS Energy, commemorating CPS Energy’s commitment to providing fellowship opportunities to transitioning military personnel and offering potential meaningful career opportunities in their new civilian careers.

“Military City USA is really not just a phrase, we feel like San Antonio makes it happen,” said Brig Gen Laura Lenderman, JBSA and 502d ABW Commander. “Appreciating the service of our Military members and the sacrifice of their families and offering them opportunities to smoothly transition is extremely special to all of us in uniform, and we are extremely grateful.”
