When an organization works closely day in and day out tackling tough issues, members of the team become a family. Additionally, I consider our members who support us in our efforts an extension of our family, so I wanted to share some somber news about one of our team members.
Two weeks ago, our Vice President of Finance, Imelda Davis, was admitted to the hospital with severe difficulty breathing and diagnosed with pneumonia. Her lungs were taking longer than usual to clear-up, and last week, after a battery of tests, she was diagnosed with a Stage IV Sarcoma that was found in her leg but impacting her lungs. The dreaded disease revealed itself suddenly and without any warning. She is currently in the Intensive Care Unit of Mission Trails Baptist Hospital, where she received extremely aggressive doses of chemotherapy. This is devastating news for Imelda’s husband and three children, not to mention her Chamber family.
If you know anything about Imelda it is the fact that she has incredible tenacity and is fighting with all her being to beat this menace that has invaded her body. The members of our Team visit her daily to check on her and her family, and they are doing well under the circumstances.
We have asked ourselves what we can do to help, and we have determined that financial resources are the best way to help, given that Imelda’s husband recently started a new job and has been unable to work and that two of their children will go off to college this weekend. We have, therefore, decided to create a Go Fund Me page to provide the family with some assistance.
This is the beginning of a long battle for Imelda, but we know that she is a fighter. We ask that you keep her and her family in your prayers.
