As 2019 comes to a close, we always take a moment to reflect on the past year and start planning the calendar for the year to come. The Chamber has been fortunate in 2019 to co-host our Networking Mixers at some incredible locations throughout San Antonio. From being introduced to new locations like Ivy Hall on South St Mary’s, to celebrating historic venues like The Lambermont, the Chamber and our members have a great deal of exciting memories to reflect on. Additionally, attendance at the Missions Baseball game was robust, and we all cheered as we watched the Missions knock the socks off the Reno Aces in June. The Plaza Club, on the top floor of the former Frost Tower, offered a phenomenal view of our growing City and played host to more than 120 Chamber networking business men and women. When representatives from SAWS introduced new conservation methods to the crowd, one could have heard a “water drop.” Our goal of inviting special guests to these Mixer events such as the Director of the Texas Department of Information Resources, the GSA Regional Administrator for the Greater Southwest Region, and SAWS’ head of local procurement helped provide tangible opportunities to develop real business leads and opened doors to all who were in attendance.
Our Morning Mingle breakfast networking events were another series of get-togethers designed to open the door to business growth and lead generation, not to mention an opportunity to get a leg up on the most important meal of the day. We began the year at Fleming’s in the Quarry for a breakfast that was out of this world. In June, we found ourselves at the unique location of the McFarlin Tennis Center, where the group learned of the huge offering of tennis courts and services in the heart of the city. In August, we took a drive out west to Windemere in Westover Hills, where we were educated about their important mission of short-term care and rehabilitation.
We could not have been more excited to attend a Networking Mixer at the fabulous Main Event located at 1604 & 281, where attendees were treated to scrumptious bites and endless fun, from pool to bowling to laser tag to sky-walking. Our host was so gracious that they even hosted the Morning Mingle networking breakfast in October.
Speaking of October, the Halloween-themed mixer took the group to the thriving eastside of San Antonio to the headquarters of The Trade Group, where we were treated to on-site barbeque from Xtra Hand BBQ and some of the best homemade witch’s brew in the City. The mixer was held in the middle of their showroom which boasted their first-class events exhibits and gave the event a convention feel and sensation.
Rest assured we have a great deal work to do to get 2020 to live up to the excitement and success we experienced this year, but we can do it. With your help hosting a networking event, we can highlight your company while facilitating business to business connections. Additionally, we would like to hear your ideas concerning who you would like to hear from as featured speakers at these events.
If you are interested in hosting a Business After Hours or Morning Mingle networking event, please contact our VP of Membership Joe Kampa at (210) 229-2163. Please get your request in early, as we always have more great Chamber business that want to host a fun and unique event than we have months in the year. We look forward to hearing from you and to seeing you soon.
