Chamber publishes nonprofit industry economic impact study

Last week, your Chamber hosted an event showcasing the published results of our inaugural nonprofit economic impact study in San Antonio. The presentation was given by Trinity University’s Dr. Mary Stefl and Dr. Rich Butler.

In 2019, nonprofit organizations in San Antonio generated $6 billion in revenues and expenditures and employed approximately 7% of the San Antonio area workforce. Among the nearly 1,800 organizations featured in the data, their focuses ranged from charities and philanthropies, education, the arts, housing, sports, and chambers of commerce.

The presentation was followed by a roundtable discussion of Christopher Martin, President of the United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County; Jessica Miller, San Antonio Market President, Bank of America; and David Rogers, President of H. E. Butt Foundation. The panel was moderated by Blake Hastings, Senior Vice President, Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, and San Antonio Area Foundation board member.
