LSA 45 receives leadership lessons from Chamber Board chairs

Leadership San Antonio’s 45th Class welcomed fellow alumni as guests to talk about Leadership Lessons with the 2020 Board Chairs for the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce and the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. San Antonio Chamber Chair Adam Hamilton, President and CEO of Southwest Research Institute, and Hispanic Chamber Chair Dr. Erika Gonzalez, CEO, South Texas Allergy & Asthma Medical Professionals, provided words of wisdom and insight into their experiences, with a specific focus on leading through the recent pandemic

Current LSA 45 Co-Chairs, Brian Hurtak, Assistant Vice President, Deposits with USAA Federal Savings Bank, and Cristina Bazaldua, moderated the virtual chat and asked targeted questions on how the leaders became interested in giving back to our community and how they balance work, volunteer, and family life. The Chamber Chairs together reiterated their first priority of supporting family and nurturing relationships among friends and family as keys to their leadership strategies. They also relayed the importance of leading from the front and taking care of those who you work with on a personal level, as well as mentoring and uplifting them on a professional level.

This special event was hosted to continue the discussion of legacy, service and action among our current Leadership San Antonio class, who have transitioned to virtual gatherings, as well as to join the efforts with fellow LSA alumni from years past.

“As part of our objective to leave an LSA 45 legacy, we started virtual leadership coffee talks this year while we are unable to meet in person,” said Hurtak. “The popularity of these talks made us think that LSA alumni would like to engage and join us, so we invited them this time and are pleased to share that many joined. We look forward to keeping these going in 2021 with LSA Class 45, more city leaders and our fellow alumni.”
