On February 24, the San Antonio Chamber joined forces with other community leaders for the virtual “Champions for Education Breakfast” to discuss education and workforce development. Your Chamber was proud to co-sponsor this successful event with Restore Education. Our own President and CEO Richard Perez moderated a panel of experts including, Romanita Matta-Barrera (SA Works), Anson Green (Tyson), and Dr. John Friedman (Harvard’s Opportunity Insights). A full recording of the event is available here.
The conversation with these leaders in education and workforce development made clear that collaborations and partnerships are key to San Antonio’s economic recovery. With a dynamic labor market, the perspective of local employers and business leaders is critical to building a successful response. Education and workforce development are complicated issues that cover two generations and cannot be found by engaging a single partner or developing a single message.
The Chamber looks forward to helping facilitate future collaborations between local businesses, educators/training providers, and individuals looking to improve their circumstances. Our Education and Workforce Development Council will continue to engage partners from all sectors – education, business, and government as San Antonio develops its long-term strategies.
