Economic Development Council moves forward with new leadership

The Chamber’s Economic Development Council met on Tuesday afternoon under the new leadership of Rene Dominguez, President and COO, TRTF/VelocityTX. Rene welcomed the group and introduced the Chamber’s new Vice President of Cybersecurity and Economic Development Jeff Fair to his first Economic Development Council meeting. Rene then introduced the council’s industry team leaders, who all gave great updates to the council regarding the most recent happenings and future events for aerospace, healthcare, the downtown area, and real estate. Finally, Justina Tate, Budget Director for the City of San Antonio, provided the council with an update on the City’s economic development efforts.

Following industry updates, Rene shared his vision for the future of the council, including his plans to bring some high-profile guests to future council meetings to have frank discussions about major economic issues and areas. The discussions would flow from open question and answer sessions and likely lead to new actions for the council to consider. Our first speaker, scheduled for the council’s April 27 meeting, is Keith Phillips, Assistant Vice President and Senior Economist of Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.

Thank you to Rene his volunteer leadership. The team has an exciting way forward, and we look forward to a productive and rewarding 2021.
