Chamber to host Military Spouse Appreciation Day event on May 7

The protection of our nation relies on the strength of our military and the strength of our military comes from the support of the family who stands alongside them. Your San Antonio Chamber of Commerce has been a proud supporter of Joint Base San Antonio’s military missions, service members, and military spouses, who have unique challenges to building and establishing careers and resiliently adapting their lives through many moves and family separations – all to guarantee their service member can focus on the mission while in uniform.

Selfless service is a family affair – and our military spouses are a vital component to ensuring the brightest talent among our military ranks is recruited and retained. How can our business community support a military spouse? Join us to connect with Military City, U.S.A.’s talented military spouse workforce and find out the endless potential a military spouse can bring to your organization.

Join us on National Military Spouse Appreciation Day, Friday, May 7th at 10am, for the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce’s inaugural Military Spouse Appreciation virtual event brought to us by USAA. Guests will hear from Major General David Glaser, Deputy Commanding General – Operations, United States Army North (Fifth Army) and Senior Commander, Fort Sam Houston and Camp Bullis, and also gain a unique insight into what it means to be a military spouse today from esteemed author, entrepreneur and blogger, Judy Davis. An Army spouse of almost 18 years, Judy is no stranger to the ups and downs of military life.

In 2019, Judy became a full-time caregiver after her husband Geoff, a combat engineer, suffered an above knee amputation, a TBI and other injuries in an explosive blast while training in WA state. Together the couple not only found unique ways to deal with the challenges of navigating this unfamiliar territory, but they now share those skills, art and timely advice with others in an effort to help them stress less. Guests will also be able to network virtually with resources offered by Military City, U.S.A. partners such as the Steven A Cohen Military Family Clinic at Endeavors and the US Chamber’s Hiring Our Heroes representatives to help with hiring, fellowships, mental health, wellness, and more!

You won’t want to miss this opportunity to “Thank a Military Spouse” and engage with fellow business leaders to find new ways to support military spouses who serve our nation too.
