The San Antonio Chamber of Commerce was a proud co-sponsor of the San Antonio ISD Foundation’s State of the District 2021 on Tuesday, April 27. It was an energizing event that gave the community an update on the great progress our namesake district has been making over the past several years. When Martinez was hired in 2015, the district had more than 35,000 students enrolled in failing schools, earning it the equivalent of an F rating from the Texas Education Agency. Today that figure is below 8,000 and the district’s accountability rating is a B, the same as Bexar County’s other large school districts. Superintendent Pedro Martinez gave an inspiring presentation that highlighted what the district and its students have accomplished despite many challenges.
