Chamber Lends Support to Bipartisan Border Solutions Act

To address the surge of migrants coming across our southern border, U.S. Senators John Cornyn (R-TX) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) and U.S. Representatives Henry Cuellar (D-TX-28) and Tony Gonzales (R-TX-23) introduced The Bipartisan Border Solutions Act (H.R. 2839 / S. 1358). Their bipartisan, bicameral legislation has garnered support from immigration groups, elected officials, and business organizations, including your Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber sent a letter to the Bexar County Congressional delegation offering our support for the legislation, which we believe offers commonsense measures to address the influx of migrants at the southern border by deploying smart, effective border enforcement and greater investments in personnel, technology, and infrastructure at the ports of entry, as well as support for a well-functioning immigration court system. These types of provisions are not only necessary to confront the ongoing crisis on our southern border, but they must also be considered by Congress as they debate other immigration issues where reform is desperately needed.

Fixing our broken immigration system would boost our economy and help all workers by increasing productivity, creating more jobs, and improving wages. A safe and secure region will lead to a safer, more secure United States and improve the economic outcomes of the U.S. economy.
