San Antonio Chamber of Commerce welcomes the 2021 – 2023 San Antonio City Council With Botanical Garden Reception

The San Antonio Chamber of Commerce hosted the New City Council Reception yesterday to welcome and congratulate our newly elected and re-elected Mayor and City Councilmembers. Held at the beautiful state-of-the-art The Betty Kelso Center at the San Antonio Botanical Garden, the reception was emceed by Henry Ramos, Reporter and News Anchor for KENS 5, and included entertainment and hors d’oeuvres by popular chef and fan-favorite Jason Dady.

San Antonio Chamber of Commerce 2021 Chair of the Board Hope Andrade welcomed guests to the Chamber’s first in-person reception of 2021. Hope shared heartfelt remarks and words of encouragement, stating the “energy in this room confirms we are on the road to recovery and a better tomorrow.” Hope highlighted the integral role our city leaders play in ensuring San Antonio maintains a business-friendly environment and a thriving economy. “The Chamber understands that for us to be a strong business community, we need city leadership support. And most importantly, we want to support you in your efforts. In turn, we will create jobs, we will give back to our community with our time and expertise, contribute to our local economy, and join you in making this City the best place for unlimited opportunities,” she stated.

Mayor Nirenberg followed with remarks about how San Antonio is on a great path to recovery and has been recognized as a national model for addressing the pandemic. Six City Councilmembers were in attendance: Jalen McKee-Rodriguez representing District 2, Phyllis Viagran representing District 3, Dr. Adriana Rocha Garcia representing District 4, Teri Castillo representing District 5, Melissa Cabello-Havrda representing District 6, and John Courage representing District 9.

Guests also heard remarks from Kevin Dinnin, President and CEO for BCFS, and Kenny Wilson, former CEO of Haven for Hope of Bexar County and representing NuStar Energy, both presenting sponsors for the event.

After the reception guests were invited to experience Noches de Frida and were encouraged to take docent-guided or self-guided tours of the new Frida Kahlo Oasis exhibition and enjoy the beautiful bloom displays throughout the Botanical Garden.
