The SA Climate Ready Benchmarking Subcommittee is currently discussing the potential development of a draft Benchmarking Ordinance for large buildings that will improve efficiency and save money. A benchmarking ordinance is a policy that requires a large building owner to report their building’s Energy Star Score or Energy Use Intensity (EUI) annually to the local government. With this data, property owners will be empowered to make their buildings more efficient, but will not be required to undertake any improvements.
Since Chamber President and CEO Richard Perez is a member of the Subcommittee, we wanted to make our members aware of an opportunity to weigh in on that Ordinance. The SA Climate Ready Benchmarking Subcommittee has created a Discovery Phase Application targeting property owners whose properties are 50,000 square feet or larger. Your Chamber invites you to complete the application for the Discovery Phase if you are interested in sharing your feedback on this program.
