The Greater San Antonio Chamber’s Senior Enlisted Advisory Committee (SEAC) met this week to highlight the vast number of resources available to active-duty military, families, and veterans through the Alamo Veterans Network. The meeting was hosted by Sean Simler (MSgt, USAF, ret) who serves as Practice Manager for Flagship Health, a veteran-centered facility hub who offers a range of physical, social, mental, and financial health services aimed at helping veterans and their spouses to thrive. After welcome remarks, guests received a presentation from Victor Salazar (U.S. Army Combat Veteran), MVA Program and Services Coordinator for the Alamo Area Council of Governments, who provided a comprehensive Veteran Programs Performance overview.

The Alamo Veterans Network assists service members, veterans, and their families in the Alamo Area (Atascosa, Bandera, Bexar, Comal, Frio, Gillespie, Guadalupe, Karnes, Kendall, Kerr, Medina, McMullen, and Wilson counties.) The program creates a coordinated network of public, private, and nonprofit organizations serving service members, veterans, and their families. The Alamo Veterans Network evaluates a member’s personal goals and directs him to the network providers who can help navigate solutions. The service member only needs to provide eligibility information once, and Alamo Veterans Network providers work together to serve them directly. Alamo Veterans Network providers cover a comprehensive range of services, including:

Benefits

Health

Social Enrichment

Clothing & Household Goods

Housing

Spiritual Enrichment

Education

Individual & Family Support Services

Sports & Recreation

Employment

Legal

Transportation

Food

Money Management

Utilities

The Network is focused on care coordination and offers wrap around care and consistent follow-up even after resolution. Currently 227 organizations offer services in network and there have been over 524 unique network users, all centered on connecting the right providers for the right services efficiently.

“Providing this information especially through Senior Non-Commissioned Officer channels is key to ensuring all Active, Guard, and Reserve fighting forces and their families receive quick access to care,” says Lori Stinson, Vice President of Military Affairs and Leadership Development at the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce. “But as they transition out of uniform into civilian life, they know where to find resources and advocates in a time of need.”

The SEAC’s mission continues to be:

  • To provide a forum to facilitate communication among the senior NCOs from all branches of the military in the San Antonio area;
  • To provide a mechanism for the military to communicate any needs/issues to the business community;
  • To provide a mechanism for the business community to communicate opportunities and resources available to the military.
