Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones was sworn in as San Antonio’s 69th Mayor, bringing with her a distinguished background in military service, national security, and public leadership. A first-generation American and Air Force veteran, she served as an intelligence officer, deployed during Operation Iraqi Freedom, and later held key roles with the Defense Intelligence Agency, U.S. Africa Command, and the Executive Office of the President. In 2021, former President Joe Biden nominated her as the 27th Under Secretary of the Air Force, where she earned the Department of Defense Medal for Distinguished Public Service. Jones continues her service through leadership and advisory roles in major national and veteran-focused organizations.
