Federal COVID-19 relief bill and appropriations critical to business recovery

As 2020 ended, the United States Congress passed a COVID-19 relief bill and a FY21 Omnibus bill - both were signed into law by the President. The COVID-19 relief package and the FY 2021 appropriations will provide critical support to many members of our business community who continue to struggle to keep their businesses open and operating. Representative Henry Cuellar (TX-28) hosted two conference calls, December 30 and January 4, to lay out a summary of both bills. The COVID-19 Relief FY21 Omnibus package provides:

• Strong support for small business with expanded eligibility for Paycheck Protection Program (PPP);
• Funding for the purchase of vaccines, vaccine distribution, testing, and extra federal relief for health care providers; and
• Direct payments to Americans.

Included in H.R. 133 appropriations provisions is an additional $6.5 billion in emergency funding related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The relief package and appropriations are critical to supporting the business community and helping Americans recover in 2021.
