Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the successful passage of the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024

WHAT:           The Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the successful passage of the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024, which includes language to expand the number of direct flight routes into Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). This could create an opportunity for the City of San Antonio Airport (SAT) to enhance connectivity for our region's leisure and business travelers.

For the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce and our regional partners, securing a direct flight to DCA for Military City, USA, has been a tireless pursuit. As the second largest cybersecurity hub in the United States with a substantial military presence and thriving defense industry, this legislative victory could potentially lead to a significant economic boost.

“We are grateful to our champions in Congress who have taken us one step closer to a direct flight to DCA, but we know our fight is not yet over. The Greater San Antonio Chamber will continue to work with the City of San Antonio to advocate for securing a contract with an airline carrier for this important route. We look forward to planning our annual advocacy trip from the nation’s capital, SA, to DC, when we can take advantage of a direct flight. Stay tuned for more good news!” said Jeff Webster, President & CEO of the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce.
