On the 154th year Anniversary of the Battle of Puebla, your Chamber attended the Cinco de Mayo celebration at the Avenida Guadalupe. Known as Mexico’s second Independence Day, this day is celebrated in remembrance of the battle that took place on May 5, 1862 near the city of Puebla in Mexico. General Ignacio Zaragoza led the Mexican Army as French troops marched toward Mexico City. The French troops attacked the city of Puebla at noon on May 5. After four hours of fighting, the Mexican army stopped the attack from France, a major world power.
The Chamber, the Consulate General of Mexico, the San Antonio Mexican Friendship Council, the City of San Antonio and the Avenida Guadalupe Association provided beautiful wreaths that were placed at the foot of the Statue of General Zaragoza.
