This week, members of the San Antonio Chamber’s Cybersecurity Industry Council met with a group of Tech Entrepreneurs from Mexico to discuss our city’s growing cybersecurity ecosystem and the reasons why the industry is expanding in San Antonio. The Creative Technologies Delegation was led by Ricardo Becerra, Under Secretary of Economic Development of Mexico City, was continuing a dialogue started when San Antonio Mayor Ivy Taylor signed an MOU with Mexico City in 2015.
CyberSecurity San Antonio hosted members of five different private technology companies from Mexico City, briefing the entrepreneurs on the growing cybersecurity ecosystem, talent and business climate in San Antonio. Council members from root9b and VYSK attended, speaking about their unique business products and why they have chosen to grow their presence in San Antonio.
Root9b, who was chosen as the top innovative cybersecurity companies to watch in 2016 on the Cybersecurity 500, has offices in downtown San Antonio. Root9b’s San Antonio office was expanded earlier this year and houses their Adversary Pursuit Center, which trains Air Force cyber professionals.
VYSK is a local San Antonio-based startup which has created an iPhone case that has software embedded in it that can secure the phone’s activity and mobile communication from threats.
Both companies shared their stories with the Creative Technologies Delegation and discussed why San Antonio is quickly emerging as a top spot in the US to start and grow a security company.
Companies attending from Mexico City included Creasoft, BrainUp Systems, Hova Networks and PindNet R&D. Under Secretary Becerra and the Ministry of Economic Development in Mexico City traveled to San Antonio to meet with local business and academic leaders, also attending the Bi-National Green Energy Forum. Hosted by the City of San Antonio’s International Relations Office and Casa San Antonio, the goal of the visit was to further enhance and explore private sector business connectivity between Mexico City and San Antonio.
