The Chamber was on hand last week when the 433rd Airlift Wing at Joint Base San Antonio - Lackland honored the arrival of their new C-5M Super Galaxy aircraft named the “Spirit of San Antonio”. Major General John C.  Flournoy, Jr., Commander of 4th Air Force and Colonel Thomas K. Smith, Jr, Commander of the 433rd Airlift Wing, had the opportunity to fly the aircraft into its new home in our community.  The Airlift Wing’s mission is to organize, equip, and train its approximately 2,400 ready reservists to achieve combat readiness and also operate as the only Formal Training Unit for all C-5M aircrews from the Reserves, Active-Duty and National Guard units. After seeing the C-5M Super Galaxy in action the Air Force’s song comes to mind, specifically the closing words of “Nothing can stop the U.S. Air Force.” Ready to provide combat forces around the globe at any moment, we believe it would be ill-advised to bet against the 433rd Airlift Wing, also known as the Alamo Wing. They too, appear to be unstoppable.
