Did you know that Prague Castle, originating during the 9th century, is the largest medieval castle in Europe. At over 18 acres, it is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest ancient castle in the world by area. It was built for the Kings of Bohemia, and today, the President of the Czech Republic rules from this castle. Not only is it a functioning body of government, it is also one of the largest tourist attractions in Prague. The dominant building within the complex, and the most recognizable landmark in the city, is St. Vitus Cathedral, which is a great starting point when touring this amazing structure. This is just one of the sights you’ll visit if you choose to go with your Chamber on our fall trip to Europe. After visiting the historic city of Prague, which will happen on the last day of our trip, the locals will be celebrating the Czechoslovak Independence Day on October 28. If you want to relax and celebrate with the countrymen, you can enjoy and ice cold beer, brands that have been brewed in the Czech Republic since the year 1088, 993AD if you count the beer brewed at the Benedictine Monastery. The country has the highest beer consumption per capita in the world, with brands that include Pilsner Urquell, the world’s first pilsner and Budweiser Budvar. If these don’t make you thirsty, there are 22 other working breweries in Prague alone available for you to try! Are you interested in visiting Vienna, Budapest and Prague but still have questions? Our final Info Session focusing on the trip will take place on July 6 at our Northside Business Center from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. During this info session, we will guide you through the process of registering for this trip and give you details on the many benefits you will receive for being a Chamber member, like city tours, deluxe motor coaches and more. For more information on this final info session and to express interest in joining the Chamber as we venture to Prague, Vienna and Budapest this fall, contact our Membership Program Coordinator Cynthia Rodriguez at 210-229-2107 or at cyrodriguez@sachamber.org. You can RSVP by email, but hurry because seating is limited!
