The South Texas Blood & Tissue center (STBTC) and your Chamber are partnering this summer to increase blood donations in our region in hopes of reversing a 30-year low in donations. Your company can help by hosting or participating in a blood drive.
Since we started our SA Business Challenge last month, countless members and business around the city have participated in blood drives in a city-wide effort to increase our blood supply. We have seen a significant uptick in member donations and congratulate those who have taken the time to give blood or have encouraged their staff to donate. If you have already donated, we thank you.
“In its purest form, donating blood is the act of giving life,” our CEO & President Richard Perez says. “Your time spent donating or encouraging people to donate will help someone in need, and because of you someone may not need to postpone an elective surgery and be able to recover more quickly.”
July is historically the slowest month for donations, so the STBTC has never needed you more. Consider participating in our SA Business Challenge, which aims to have 20% of a business’s employees give blood. Winners will get bragging rights, recognition from the Chamber, and a plaque a the STBTC Donor Pavilion.
