Hosting their second event of the year, the LSA Alumni Association proudly hosted a networking mixer and post-party to help launch the SA FILM Festival. Each quarter a past LSA class is able to host an event to help bring together alumni association members to network and learn about new ways of engaging in the Chambers and other local organizations and efforts in need of support. This quarter’s event was hosted by LSA Class 38 whose class member, Adam Rocha, organizes annually the SA FILM Festival. “SA FILM is an important part of the artistic fabric of our community and the gateway for San Antonio to becoming a major player in the film industry,” said Richard Perez, President and CEO of the San Antonio Chamber. Sponsored by Alamo Beer, Republic National Distributors, Rico, and True Flavors Catering, guests were not only able to network with fellow alumni members but also view screenings of two short films released during the festival.  Starting off with Trust Me, You’re Famous, this film centered on showcasing the realities of making it in showbiz.  Brewed in the 210, focuses on highlighting the burgeoning craft brew scene in San Antonio and how local breweries like Alamo Beer, Freetail Brewery and others have played a role in changing the laws of the state to enhance the economic opportunities for the industry. After the event attendees were able to speak individually with the directors of the films and learn more about the creative and funding process that goes into making short films.
