“One of the greatest values of mentors is the ability to see ahead what others cannot see and to help them navigate a course to their destination.”--- John C. Mawell
In partnership with LOOP, your San Antonio Chamber hosted and recruited members to participate in our first ever Speed Mentoring event. Held at the beautiful Guadalupe Arts Theater, LOOPers and mentors were able to meet and discuss various aspects of professional development.
The goal of the event was to foster the first of future events where Chamber members can connect with young professional seeking mentorship. More than 10 business leaders volunteered to serve as mentors for the event and came from a variety of businesses that included: VIA Metropolitan Transit, South Texas Spinal Clinic, SpaceCadet, Bethany East PR, Emerald Fox Marketing, CPS Energy and the Chamber.
Covering everything from work/life balance issues to career development, LOOPers and mentors were able to spend more than an hour learning about each other and what has helped them succeed in San Antonio. “This experience was beneficial for me as a mentor as it allowed me to get out of my every-day norm and help younger professionals understand how the lessons I have learned in business can apply to their career trajectory even if not within the same industry,” said Dr. Ajeya Joshi of South Texas Spinal Clinic.
This event is one of a five-part leadership series for LOOP members wherein they will meet with various community and business leaders. Plans are underway for future mentorship events in 2017 in partnership with the Chamber and our business members.
