Preparations for ¡VIVA San Antonio! 2017 are well underway! Chamber staff has been working closely with our 2017 VIVA Chairman, Eddie Aldrete, Senior Vice President of IBC Bank, to make this day-long trip to the State Capitol the best one yet.
Several key business and community leaders have already registered and are preparing for the one-on-one meetings with state legislators. Last month, the Chamber hosted a ¡VIVA San Antonio! Kick-Off meeting to get attendees introduced to their issue teams and begin developing white papers and talking points. Those who register can choose to serve on an issue team of their choice, as having subject-matter experts lead our advocacy efforts will make this trip more effective.
¡VIVA San Antonio! is a great opportunity for business and community leaders to unite and advocate for issues that are important to our business community. Such efforts can lead to effective policy decisions that help retain and attract new businesses and industry to San Antonio.
Evan Smith, CEO and co-founder of The Texas Tribune, will kick-off the day as guest speaker at our Legislative luncheon. Evan will give attendees a rundown on how things are shaping up in the 85th legislative session. Following lunch, attendees will disperse into issue teams to meet one-on-one with key decision-makers at the capitol. The event concludes with a reception at the Governor’s Mansion!
